The Sustainability Journey
A modular programme that takes a company through every stage of sustainability management. Each module builds on the last. Start with one step and decide how far to go. Built around the EU VSME standard (the Voluntary Sustainability Reporting Standard for SMEs) and adapted to the realities of industrial and logistics suppliers in the Rotterdam port corridor.
The six modules
From first baseline to a report your customers can use
Every module answers a question a supplier eventually faces. Together they turn customer ESG demands into a system the business benefits from. Modules can also be taken on individually. Most companies start with the Baseline.
Sustainability Baseline
TCB and the client jointly identify which sustainability topics are relevant to the business. This comprises a materiality assessment to identify the Environmental, Social and Governance topics relevant to the company, and a scan of the sustainability-linked legislation relevant to the client's activities.
Deliverables Materiality assessment, legislation and customer-requirement scan, gap overview
Strategy and Roadmap
TCB supports the client in setting priorities, defining policies, and building a roadmap that fits the business. Targets are grounded in the materiality results, not a generic template.
Deliverables ESG action plans, sustainability policies, decarbonisation and circular strategies, targets and roadmap
Implementation Support
TCB works alongside the client to put the plan into action: process reviews, supplier engagement, energy and resource efficiency measures, and governance setup.
Deliverables Energy and resource efficiency measures, supplier engagement programme, governance setup
Data and Monitoring
TCB maps the sources of information available to the client and discusses pathways to optimise data gathering and processing, to streamline the monitoring and reporting that follow.
Deliverables Carbon accounting (Scopes 1, 2 and 3), Product Carbon Footprint, monitoring and data model setup
Reporting
TCB supports the client in delivering a first VSME-aligned sustainability report, structured to meet client and partner requirements and ready to share.
Deliverables VSME-aligned sustainability report, EcoVadis and customer questionnaire response pack
Commercial Integration
TCB helps the client turn their sustainability profile into a business asset: stronger tender responses, more credible client conversations, and better access to finance.
Deliverables Tender-ready sustainability profile, client-facing evidence pack
Deliverables are tailored to each client's situation. The final scope can vary depending on the client's specific needs. This list is indicative only, and no rights can be derived from it.
How the work runs
What does working with TCB look like?
Like a team member, without the contract
TCB integrates with your people and joins the relevant meetings, almost like a member of your team. Often a few hours a week is all it takes, with fewer legal and administrative constraints than hiring an employee.
Start small, scale when it makes sense
The Journey is modular. A company can start with the Sustainability Baseline alone, see the results, and then decide whether to continue into strategy, implementation and reporting.
Built on your data, not a template
Priorities come out of the materiality assessment and the legislation scan for your specific activities. The work stays anchored to what your customers actually ask for.
Common triggers
When do suppliers start this work?
A customer questionnaire arrived at tender
The most common trigger. A structured baseline turns the scramble into a repeatable answer, and the next questionnaire into a quick update.
A customer requires an EcoVadis assessment
EcoVadis (a widely used supplier sustainability rating) rewards documented policies and evidence. Preparing the right material in advance makes a stronger score achievable with less scramble.
A customer asked for a Product Carbon Footprint
Under pressure from CSRD and the ECGT, large companies need carbon data from their supply chain. TCB helps set up the calculation and the data flows behind it.
The business wants to get ahead of it
Some companies start before the first request lands. They tend to get the most value: the baseline surfaces efficiency opportunities and risks on its own merits.
